Summary of Programme
The LLB Honours programme by part-time study at the mini´«Ã½ is a hybrid programme combining written and online learning materials with weekly face-to-face and online evening seminars. It has both academic and professional components. It provides students with a solid foundation in legal and academic skills. The students benefit from weekly evening seminars characterised by various interactive activities and enriched with a reflective approach when appropriate. It explores legal issues confronting the real world and looks for practical and workable solutions, as well as considering theoretical and reflective positions on the law. A variety of assessment methods, closely aligned to the learning outcomes of its modules and the programme itself, provide students with contemporary approaches to problem-solving and legal application.
The LLB provides the seven foundations of legal knowledge required for the ‘academic component’ of training articulated by the Bar Standards Board as necessary for qualification as a barrister. It also provides preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations. It complies with the QAA Subject Benchmark for Law, also required by the Bar Standards Board for qualification as a barrister.
All Modules are assessed through a variety of methodologies, as set out below and in the Module Specifications. The Part-time LLB Programme and its assessment strategy are designed to impart legal knowledge, ensure students acquisition of practical skills, enhance ability to perform in court and other public speaking roles, and, finally, provide critical and analytical abilities essential for legal practice and public or private sector posts. It also fosters negotiation skills essential for legal practice and variety of roles, for example in management or diplomacy.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you wish to qualify as a lawyer in a jurisdiction other than England and Wales after graduating from mini´«Ã½ Law School, it is recommended that you consult the accreditation authority of that jurisdiction to ensure you satisfy its requirements for qualification as a lawyer.
